Collecting Horsehair
IM Silver JewelryHand crafted quality, one piece at a time.
Please follow these instructions
Please cut hair, do not send hair that has been combed out and removed from a brush or hair pulled out on a fence. I encourage my clients to collect before the day that you say Good-Bye. Even if you hold on to it for a while that is fine.
DO NOT COMB OUT THE HAIR, please cut the hair from the tail.
DO NOT USE TAPE, rubber band at the top.
DO NOT TURN THE HAIR, just sent the hair the way it was cut from tail.
DO NOT BRAID THE HAIR, just coil and please in zip lock.
DO NOT WASH, I will take care of that.
ALLOW 6 TO 8 WEEKS, this does not include shipping time.
TAIL HAIR ONLY, if possible.
Mane hair is not as strong as TAIL hair and will not last the same as TAIL hair.
Tail hair is best
1. With the tail in your hands, part the tail and move up to the tail bone. If you cut the hair from the middle of the tail, the tail will not appear to have been cut. Be sure to provide the LONGEST tail hair possible.
Tail hair is best
2. Separate a small amount of hair, about the width of a dime, for small projects, such as necklaces and bracelets. Hold the separated hair with one hand, and cut the hair close to the tail bone with your other hand. Be careful not to cut the horse.
Tail hair is best
3. Please tie the hair with a RUBBER BAND or hair tie. Loosely coil the hair and place it in a Ziplock bag for shipping. Write your name, address, and phone number on the Ziplock bag. Please also include a description of what you are wanting to be made. Please cut hair, do not send hair that has been combed out.
